App Rap

Lucky wanted to be a startup chap,
and so he quit his job to create an app.

What to build? he thought and thought
until his right brain sold him an idea that he thought was most sought...

An app to aggregate services- how cool!
he was sure he was the first to think of it- oh that fool!

 After all was done,
he realized he was, but another one!

 For there were many
who were doing what he was- Sorry honey!

 What Lucky hadn't foreseen
was 'differentiation' and what (to customers) his idea would mean...

And of course that was just his lesson one...
for he had more coming - would he ever be done?

With a lot of entrepreneurs stepping into the world of startups, India is probably witnessing a slow revolution now. At this point, it might be of some help to reflect on certain things:
  • It is important for founders to focus on the need aspect of the product rather than the product itself - exceptions being when the goal is to create "that need" and show people what they want (like what Steve Jobs did?)...
  • It is prudent to start developing the product after doing some primary market research on acceptance- the last thing that you want is a product that nobody is willing to buy!
  • It is also important to build a great sales and marketing team. Good marketing can make an average product look great! Of course this can come at a later stage depending on what your startup is all about
  • Network- the importance of having a great network is very often understated; you need to have a strong network to get some traction on anything related to your startup- from funding to promotions
Anyhow.. That's all for today for there's only so much that anyone reading a blog post can take :-).. Tata!
